Vermouth (or vermú) is an alcoholic beverage based on wine macerated with herbs, flowers, roots and spices. Its name comes from the German term wermut, meaning wormwood, the main botanical that gives it its characteristic bitterness.
Generally fortified white wine is used, to which alcohol and sugar or caramel are added to balance the flavor. More than 30 different ingredients can be used, such as cinnamon, cardamom, orange peel, clove and chamomile. Its alcohol content ranges between 15 and 18 degrees.
Vermut del Trujal is a reserva vermouth aged for more than 12 months in oak barrel.
