Four generations of the Galafre family pressed grapes in Valmadrid, Aragón — a small village near Zaragoza where making wine was not a business, but a way of life. Great-grandfather Pascual was the first to press the grapes, following the methods passed down to him by his own grandparents. Neighbours, bars and taverns across the province came to know them by word of mouth, buying bulk wine directly from the trujal.
Pascual earned the nickname Galafre — a reference to the legendary giant who guarded the Mantible Bridge in the medieval tales of Charlemagne and the Twelve Peers of France. Standing over two metres tall, the comparison was no coincidence. That figure of strength and guardianship became the inspiration for Finca Galafre, the family’s Rioja wine label.
Today, that same space has evolved into Trujal de Experiencias, a Spanish wine and spirits selection and export company, founded by José Antonio Latorre and headquartered in Zaragoza. The project was born with a concrete commercial purpose: to select wines and spirits of genuine quality — from DO Rioja, Ribera del Duero, Rueda and Cava — and make them accessible to international importers and distributors at competitive prices.
Every reference in the Trujal de Experiencias portfolio is selected under the same criteria: identity, quality and consistency. All brands are developed in-house, allowing international buyers to access multiple Spanish appellations of origin through a single supplier — one commercial relationship, one logistics chain, the full regional breadth.
From a traditional winemaking cellar in Valmadrid to markets across Europe and beyond, the philosophy has not changed: find products worth standing behind and connect them with those who will know how to value them.
